Big Changes at F.W. Holroyd

In the last two years F.W. Holroyd Framing Supplies Ltd has been working hard to reposition itself in the market place. Since the acquisition the company has gone through a period of modernisation internally giving itself a foundation to build on. The company has been very focused on bolting on as many new services to its customers whilst at the same time recognising the need to be competitive. Glen Ballantyne the Managing Director said “The big challenge has been developing the company in the midst of a rapidly changing market” Traditionally the company has sourced all its products in Europe; this is now no longer the case which is evident in its new autumn range of mouldings. Our new range meets the criteria of quality and price. It also opens up new opportunities with contract framers two of which placed advanced orders. The company has recently struck a number of new deals and services which we are proud to announce.

New Distributorship with Norfolk Mouldings

The Company are delighted to announce they have secured the exclusive Scottish Distributorship with Norfolk Mouldings supplying an extensive range of unfinished mouldings. We have been dealing with Norfolk Mouldings for a number of years and have always found their products to be of the highest quality. Norfolk’s range of woods and profiles are the best in the market with a standard range of 300 profiles. What’s really exciting is the bespoke service we can supply. Our customers are professional framers many of which work exclusively with artists who wish to differentiate their work. The new distributorship allows us to supply their own personalised profile with a minimum order level of only 10 lengths which can be produced and delivered in a matter of days! The distributorship gives both companies a clear path to its Scottish customers with a product that is in high demand, Oh yes and is very competitively priced!

New Distributorship with Hot Press

F.W. Holroyd is very excited with the new distributorship of Hot Press machinery and products. As new distributors we are able to offer our customers a comprehensive service on all hot press machines which has a multitude of applications from laminating, dry mounting, sealing and canvas bonding. Steve Goodall of Hot press said “We are delighted to have F.W. Holroyd as a distributor and stockist as they can provide a full service including training and demonstrations”. They will have machinery on site which gives potential customers a greater understanding of their applications. A range of products from tissue to laminate boards will be stocked. All Hot Press equipment comes with a full instructional DVD.

New Autumn Range

We are launching, on the 1st of September, our new Autumn Range of over 100 new Mouldings which is the first stepping stone in expanding and developing a global sourcing of moulding. Like all industries we have seen an influx of cheap imports from China which is a route that we have investigated and rejected on quality and inconsistent supply. Only recently one of our European suppliers has ceased trading. F.W. Holroyd has been working hard to minimise out of stocks and improve consistent supply as emerging markets continue to affect our Trade. We are confident that our relationships with existing and new manufacturers are the right blend for our customers. Our new Autumn range meets the criteria of quality, price and consistent supply.  As part of our new launch a supplementary brochure and new price list will be available as well as samples.

Training and Support

With all new equipment and new start ups we have always tried to support our customers with an introductory training day. However we have recently formalised this with a new intensive and professional two day training course with a Guild Commended Framer, please contact us for details and available dates. F.W. Holroyd Framing Supplies have always been the Scottish Fine Art Trade Guild Test Centre and our own John Semple is in the process of becoming a Guild Commended Framer. Over the next few months we will be developing new and different ways of supporting our customers in any way we can. Suggestions are always welcome!

Blade Sharpening

We introduced this service in early April and the response has been fantastic. The key has been not only the Dan List/ Morso recommended blade sharpening equipment but the hand finishing that’s applied to every set of blades. What’s important to our customers is they are avoiding expensive postage charges by either handing them in or giving them to Ken Ralston when he visits and we then simply put them in with the customers next order!

Autumn Show

Our Autumn show is on the 16th September with Bargains! Bargains! Bargains! A number of demonstrations will take place on the day. The well known “Agony Aunt” Pete Bingham will be giving framing demonstrations and answers to all your queries. Steve Goodall will demonstrate a variety of Hot Press equipment. We extend a cordial invite to all our customers.
